Practical NursingThe Practical Nursing program at Sanford-Brown is designed to prepare students for careers as practical nurses in a variety of settings, including medical offices, hospitals, clinics and skilled-care facilities.
The curriculum is designed to train students to apply principles from general education and nursing to practice; to contribute to and implement a plan of care addressing the individual needs of a client; to use problem-solving process and critical thinking as a basis for cooperative decision making in providing nursing care under the supervision of either a registered nurse or a physician; and to practice within accepted moral, ethical and legal standards to provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care.
At the completion of the program, graduates who have diligently attended class and their clinical rotations, studied and practiced their skills should have the ability to make successful application for state licensure and, upon passing the required state examination, to seek entry-level employment as licensed practical nurses.
